Byobu / The Early Spring at Shinsen-en Garden [Side A]
The full name of the drawing is: “The Arrival of Spring and Early Blooming Flowers at Shinsen-en Garden”.
I draw on side A of the Byobu – The Early Spring of Shinsen Temple, Kyoto.
It took me some time to prepare myself for that drawing.
First ,I had to stretch the paper on the two wooden frames and then paint the Shinsen Temple in the right atmosphere.
I drew – The sky, The flow of the lake waters, The tree, The green garden, The stone Tōrōs, and – The early pink blossom.
Painting the Byobu on side A – The Temple and its surroundings was a meditative experience.
At the right bottom of the painting, there are two traditional Japanese stone lanterns called Tōrō (specifically Ishi-dōrō).
I drew side A of the Byobu – with Japanese traditional water colours.
I stamped the painting proudly, with my Japanese stamp.
