An innocent and accidental encounter with a few wild poppies growing on the side road inspired me to look for them in the park. It was an encounter that brought me joy and happiness. I was eager to share this experience with everyone.

I started with a quick sketch in my Japanese note book

The quick sketch led me to the desire to paint the poppies. Poppies symbolize – beauty, blossom, happiness, as well as sorrow and grief, which are unfortunately with us these days.

Looking at the poppies in the field brought me joy and happiness, so I was eager to share this experience with everyone, in a screen print.

It was a long process finding the best way to express my feelings. I started with the general atmosphere and that led me forwards.

Now came the stage to put down the poppies in the best way – bringing tranquility and a smile.
